Help us stop three new towers at Britannia Point
In December 2024, Merton Labour Council overwhelmingly rejected proposal for two new towers (including one that was 26 storeys) at the site immediately south of Britannia Point, often known as the Colliers Wood Tower. These plans were rejected by Merton Council due to 21 serious issues identified by our Planning Officers.
But instead of addressing those issues, it seems that the developers, Criterion, are now trying it on with new proposals, this time for three(!) towers, but lower than 26 storeys because they think that way they might get around the regulations. We think they’re having a laugh, and we are totally opposed to Criterion’s new proposals. If you agree, will you sign our petition, please?
Criterion also still owe Merton Council just shy of £3 million, which is the cost of the scaffolding that the council was forced to erect around their current tower to keep residents safe after one of the glass panes fell from the building and smashed on the pavement below. We think it’s ridiculous that Criterion think they can build three new towers in our community when they cannot even take care of the tower they have currently.
We won this campaign last time in large part thanks to the help of people who raised their voices and joined us in calling out this terrible proposal, and we are asking for your help once again.
Please help make our voice as loud as possible and sign our petition.
