Mitcham & Morden
Within the space of 18 months, there has been two house fires in Mitcham & Morden caused by unsafe e-bike lithium batteries. Although thankfully nobody was hurt, many residents have seen their homes destroyed or damaged as a result.
Recently, Siobhain hosted a roundtable in parliament, bringing together the police, London Fire Brigade, insurers, Ministers and food delivery companies (including Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat). Their aim was to find answers to the question of how we put a stop to these fires.
They agreed that we need to stop the sale of unsafe chargers and batteries, make sure that all batteries and chargers sold in the UK are safe and that delivery companies need to step up and take better care of their riders. Where the law isn’t strong enough - we need to change it.
Siobhain will not stop until unsafe e-bike batteries our off our streets and out of our homes. No one should loose their life or home because of an illegal lithium ion battery.
