Help us make e-bike batteries safer

Siobhain has begun a campaign to stop the sale of unsafe chargers and batteries for e-bikes. Her aim is to make sure that all batteries and chargers for e-bikes sold in the UK are safe and ensure that delivery companies are responsible for taking care of their riders’ bikes.

Within the space of 18 months, there has been two house fires in Mitcham & Morden. Thankfully nobody was hurt but many residents have seen their homes destroyed or damaged as a result. Sadly, people in other parts of the country have lost their lives as a result of e-bike batteries combusting, with London Fire Brigade saying that they are going out to at least one e-bike fire every day.

Recently, Siobhain hosted a roundtable on this issue, bringing together the police, fire brigade, delivery companies and Ministers to try to bring about a law to crack down on unsafe e-bike batteries. This is just the start, and Siobhain will not stop until the law becomes tougher on on e-bike batteries.
