Fire on Belgrave Walk

‍We know that everyone is shocked by the fire on Belgrave Walk at the weekend and that we are all grateful to the emergency services for their swift action that ensured that no-one was injured. Many questions remain for both those who have lost their homes and for the wider community. That is why we have organised a coffee morning in the Parish Centre on Saturday where we will have representatives from the Fire Brigade, Clarion Housing Association, and the Association of British Insurers.

‍We hope that by the end of the week we should have more information about the cause of the fire and what will next happen to everyone currently in hotels. Early signs are indicating that the terraced houses, including 40 Belgrave Walk, will have to be demolished.

Clarion Housing Association

‍Clarion Housing Association have asked that everyone with fire related queries should call Susanna Lambo on 07783 893578 or email rlohsl@clarionhg.com. From Tuesday (28th July), they are opening an office at 1a Frensham Court, Phipps Bridge Road, CR4 3PG between 10am and 4pm as a drop in for advice and questions. It will be a lot better to address concerns about the fire to Susanna or the estate office than to go through the normal Clarion call centre.

‍Fire Brigade

If you have any fire or fire safety related questions, please call 0208 555 1200. Obviously, in an emergency always call 999. The local deputy commander James Leach will be at the coffee morning on Saturday and will be-able to let us know more about the source of the fire and to give more general advice about fire safety given increasing temperatures.

Insurance

We know from experience of other fires that it can be difficult for homeowners to deal with their insurers. As a result, we will have a representative from the association of British insurers at the meeting who will be-able to take up queries with individual insurance companies.

‍If you have any other concerns you would like to discuss with us which are not related to the fire, please come along and we will deal with them as soon as we can.
