Councillors defend local post office from closure
Morden
Morden councillors have stepped up to defend their local post office after a planning application was submitted to turn the building into flats.
Morden Post Office, located on Crown Road, is a vital service for the town and offers a lifeline for many in the area. Mr Anil Patel has been running the shop for over 20 years and is well established as a valued member of the community, so it has been lovely to see the community come together to oppose plans.
Joining efforts to save the Post Office, Morden Labour Councillors Stephen Alambritis, Andrew Judge, Sally Kenny, Peter McCabe and Shuile Syeda submitted an objection to the planning application in order to prevent such a unnecessary loss to the community.
