Bus routes in Mitcham & Morden are NOT at risk

Mitcham & Morden

Over recent days, a number of residents have understandably been concerned about the future of local bus routes 80, 93, 163, 164 and 470, following claims made by the Sutton Liberal Democrats that these services were at risk.

In response, Siobhain wrote directly to Go-Ahead London to seek clear assurances about what was happening and whether any routes faced closure. We are pleased to confirm that none of these routes will be closing, and there will be no disruption to services for passengers.

Go-Ahead have confirmed that the confusion stemmed from a routine contractual process with TfL. This is a common process across London’s bus network and is managed by TfL in a way that has no impact on passengers, with services continuing to operate as normal. Go-Ahead have also confirmed that driver jobs are protected.

We are sharing this update so residents of Mitcham & Morden can be reassured that these important local bus services remain secure, and that claims of imminent closures are simply not correct.
